Dr. Rick Olazabal

Dr. Rick Olazabal is a naturopathic doctor with clinical preferences for endocrine and metabolic conditions. He has been a member in good standing of provincial regulators, the College of Naturopaths of Ontario and the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta. He is a professional member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, Florida Naturopathic Physicians Association, Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, Canadian Contemporary Acupuncture Association, Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors, Endocrine Society, and a proud supporter of the Thyroid Foundation of Canada.

Dr. Olazabal completed most of his education at McMaster University, where he earned two science degrees. Prior to his studies in naturopathic medicine, he attended medical school in the United Kingdom. He underwent clinical training at the Brampton Civic Hospital, the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic, and the Sherbourne Health Centre, and earned his naturopathic medicine degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto.

He acknowledges challenges many patients face with conventional care, and strives to address them by working in a collaborative manner. He has prescribing rights in Ontario, and is certified to provide intravenous nutrient therapy. Dr Olazabal has formal training in acupuncture and more than 10 years of experience in this modality. He also successfully completed the North American examinations in minor surgery for naturopathic doctors.
Dr. Olazabal is committed to research and the advancement of evidence-based natural medicine. He previously held a clinical research position with the Department of Research & Clinical Epidemiology at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. He has served as a teaching assistant in clinical education, botanical medicine, men’s and women’s health, and minor surgery. He is actively involved in regulatory activities and is a member of his regulatory body’s Scheduled Substances Review Committee, the Discipline Committee, and the Examinations Committee.
