The first type is acupuncture for pain syndromes (essentially, anyone experiencing pain that feels physical: muscle pain or soreness, joint pain, back pain,
some nerve pain, etc.). These conditions will likely be treated with contemporary acupuncture.

  • Contemporary acupuncture involves peripheral nerve stimulation in which sterile needles are inserted into anatomically defined neurofunctional sites, and stimulated manually, or with electricity, for the therapeutic purpose of modulating abnormal activity of the nervous system, thereby improving the function of the affected tissue(s). Choose this modality if you are affected by physical pain.
Duration: 60 minutesThe second type is traditional acupuncture, and this one is more suitable for a wider range of states such as high stress, sleep problems, digestive issues affected by stress, etc. This form of acupuncture has also been found to be useful in reducing nausea associated with pregnancy. It may also assist in improving fertility. Finally, it can help to reduce pain and cramps associated with the menstrual cycle.
  • The traditions of Chinese and Asian medicine observed physical and emotional issues as being affected by the flow of energy termed “Qi”. Traditional acupuncture employs the use of fine, sterile needles to improve the functioning of the body. Choose this modality to address stress, digestive issues, insomnia, menstrual cramps.
Duration: 30 to 45 minutesThe third type of acupuncture is related to skin health. This is more in-depth, requiring the use of much smaller, much finer needles that will be inserted into the skin. A patient may expect to receive anywhere between 100 to 200 needles in one session.
  • Skin Health acupuncture employs the use of fine, sterile needles to affect the flow of blood, and promote the production of collagen and elastin thereby improving the appearance of skin. Contemporary investigation shows that acupuncture can have a myriad of positive effects, by stimulating the release of endorphins, hormones and other chemical signals that promote healing. Choose this modality if you would like to address acne, scars, or improve the overall appearance of your skin.
